Ponce De Leon was born during the year of 1460.He was a Spanish explorer during his time. He was the first to discover Florida. In here I will discuss his main accomplishment during his life. Also the first soldier to discover La Florida. His accomplishments have made a big impact on modern day.
One of his first successes in his life is that he was the first governor of Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico means rich port in Spanish. By that he established the oldest European settlement in Puerto Rico. During his time living there among his family and children his term ended unexpectedly. After his term was ended he returned to Santo Domingo. His reason he went to Borinquen since he was looking for gold.
The next thing he did in his life was to look for the fountain of youth. He heard this place was very sacred. This magical source was located so in Florida. When he was searching for it he found Florida. When he was on the peninsula he saw an elderly woman. So he realized there was no such thing as the fountain of youth.
Also he sailed with Christopher Columbus on his second voyage. The voyage was to the new world. When Columbus returned he decided to stay in Hispaniola. While his stay in Hispaniola he became a farmer. Also he had farms in Puerto Rico. With his many farms he became very rich.
Lastly Juan Ponce de Leon since he came from a royal family also that he was a soldier. He decided to sail to Biminis an island in the Caribbean. He heard this island was wonderfully rich. The island is north of Cuba. During the year of 1512 he wanted to conquer it. After he got attacked by Native Americans then he sailed to Cuba after a few days he died with affection in his leg.
In my conclusion I will summarize his life. In the beginning he had became a soldier. Then he discovered La Florida. After he became the first governor or Puerto Rico. Also he searched for the fountain of youth. Also he sailed with Christopher Columbus in his second voyage. Lastly he died in Cuba by an affection.
